Write about something you've always been curious about.

Prompt Response:  I have always wondered how the universe continually expands into infinite nothingness. I guess it makes the most logical sense of all the other possibilities, but it still hurts my head to think about it. It is impossible to comprehend the possibility of an infinite universe.  Summary: Today in class I studied for finals because I had already done the work.  Reflection: I enjoyed today because I was able to study for my AP Psychology final.

Write about your most special holiday memory.

Prompt Response: A special holiday memory was when my family and I visited a cabin at Lake Tahoe. We hung out with cousins, skied/snowboarded, and played in the snow. It was a great time and I would love to do it again.  Summary:  Mr. Rease was not here today, so we read Chapters 8-10 of "A Lesson Before Dying" and answered discussion questions.  Reflection: I enjoyed class today because we could work independently and quickly.

Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt Response: The best gift I ever received was a gaming PC for Christmas. I got all of the parts and built it myself. It is the best gift ever because it allows me to connect and play games with friends. It also allows me to compete in online games.  Summary: Today we read chapters 6-7 of "A Lesson Before Dying" and answered discussion questions.  Reflection: I thought that chapters 6-7 were good and the discussion questions were simple and easy to do.

Write about a song that brings back a specific memory.

Prompt Response: A song that brings back a specific memory is "MY EYES" by Travis Scott. This song reminds me of a summer camp where I had a lot of fun and made a lot of memories with friends. The album that this song is from came out while I was at summer camp at 1 in the morning. I stayed up to wait for it to drop and then listened to it with friends.  Summary: Today we continued to work on our "A Lesson Before Dying" presentation on chapters 1-5.  Reflection: I enjoy working with the Adobe Express software because it is simple and easy to use and has many visuals to enhance your presentation.

Write about something that you believed in as a child.

Prompt Response: Something that I believed in as a child was Greek Mythology. I was really into the Percy Jackson books in elementary school, and I believed that the stories were real. I loved pretending to fight monsters and I daydreamed about going to Camp Halfblood to become a demi-god warrior.  Summary: Today in class we took the American Literature Benchmark Assessment 2 and worked on our Adobe Express projects.  Reflection: I thought that the assessment was fairly simple except for the essay question. It didn't really make any sense and was hard to understand. I also think that my Adobe Express project is going well so far.

Describe a time you couldn't stop laughing.

Prompt Response: I couldn't stop laughing when I was hanging out with my friend and we saw a funny video. We were sitting on the couch and watching YouTube videos when we came across a 20-minute compilation of a person pretending to be a barber, and then giving homeless people horrible haircuts. We found the video hilarious and literally laughed the entire video. By the end of the video, we were both in tears. My face and chest physically hurt and my lungs were in pain. It is singlehandedly the hardest I have ever laughed in my life.  Summary: Today we went to a meeting in the auditorium and learned about college, dual enrollment, and scholarships.  Reflection: I learned a lot about dual enrollment and I am very interested. I think that I am going to schedule a meeting with my counselor to get more information.

Write about a fear you overcame.

Prompt: I overcame a fear when I did my first backflip into a lake. Almost every year, my family goes to Lake Tahoe in California where we swim, boat, and hang out with cousins and other family at the lake house. There is a pier where we jump off into the lake and swim around and I had always wanted to do a backflip off of it, but I was always too scared. One day, I decided to just do it, I stood on the edge and threw myself backward. I ended up landing on my head, but at least I knew how to fall backward now. I got back up and did it again, except that time I actually did a backflip. I was so excited because I had conquered my fears.  Summary: Today in class we started working on a presentation for "A Lesson Before Dying" chapters 1-5. My topic is about Miss Emma's relationship with Jefferson. We are working on it in a software called Adobe Express.  Reflection: The software is kind of tricky to use, but it does make the presentation look better. I am enjoying thi...

Write about an unforgettable meal.

Prompt Response: An unforgettable meal that I had was one that I ate in Germany. My family and I were passing through this small town and stopped by this old pub for dinner. We sat down and my dad had to speak Spanish to the waiter because it was the only language that they had in common. I ordered a steak with herb butter and french fries along with a popular German drink called Spezi. Our drinks were delivered by a little robot that sang the Oktoberfest song. After that, we got our food. My steak was so juicy and flavorful and the fries were crispy and salty. It was hands down the best meal I've ever eaten.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 5 of the book and answered 5 discussion questions about Grant the teacher and his conflicts.  Reflection: I am enjoying this book so far and I thought that the questions were deep and helped me understand the chapter better.

Write about something you can't stop thinking about.

Prompt Response: I can't stop thinking about Christmas vacation. It is one of my favorite times of the year and I am also excited for school to end. However, I have a surgery over Christmas vacation that I will have to stay home and recover from. That is unfortunate because I won't be able to go do anything fun for around 3 weeks. I am also looking forward to getting the surgery over with though.  Summary: Today we read the second and third chapters of the novel we are reading. After each chapter, we answered 4-6 discussion questions about what we read.  Reflection: I am enjoying this book so far and liked doing the discussion questions. I found today's lesson pretty simple and easy, but also time consuming because we had to read two chapters of the book.

Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

Prompt Response: A time when I was judged unfairly was when I played basketball in 6th grade. I joined a team in the YMCA and went to the first practice. When I got there I was the shortest player on the team so everyone initially judged me as not very good at basketball. However, I ended up being very good and was a major contributor to the team.  Summary: Today in class we started reading the first chapter of a book we will be reading for the rest of the year. It is about a wrongly convicted young man being sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit. We also started working on a worksheet related to the first chapter.  Reflection: I enjoyed today's lesson because the book we are starting seems really interesting and well-written. I also enjoy analyzing literature.

Write about a conversation that changed you.

Prompt Response: A conversation that changed me was a conversation that I had about passions. We discussed how if you don't have any passions, you will have no determination and become lazy. This can lead to depression and many other bad things such as hurting relationships. That is why that conversation changed me.  Summary:  In today's class we worked on an assignment over the Lesson 7 vocabulary words. We defined the words, wrote some synonyms and antonyms, as well as filled in sentences using the vocab words.  Reflection: I enjoyed this class because it was fairly simple so I was able to finish quickly. Because I finished early I was able to do make-up work with the remaining time.
