Write about a feeling that took you by surprise.

 Prompt Response: A feeling that took me by surprise was when I found out I was moving. I was born in Bloomington, Indiana, and then moved to Texas around age 2. I lived in Texas for 5 years until I turned 7, which is when my dad got a job offer in Georgia. I remember when I found out that we were moving. I remember feeling sad because I would have to leave my friends, but I was also surprised that I was excited to move. I didn't expect this because I always thought I would feel really sad when we moved. But I was excited to move and have things change up. 

Summary: Today we read a poem by Robert Frost called "Out Out." It was about a boy who was working on a farm with a saw when he cut his hand off. This led to him dying. We worked on a paper where we analyzed the poem and found themes located in the text. 

Reflection: I enjoyed reading the poem and analyzing it in depth. I don't really like poetry but I liked the story and themes in this poem.

  Prompt Response:  Of the 5 senses, the one that I value the most is sight. Sight is the most important to me because it is the only one that you can't do anything about. For example, for hearing, you can learn sign language. You don't really need taste either. For smell, touch, and hearing, there are ways to live your life without them. However, if you don't have sight, you can not do anything about it. You need sight to truly experience life and the world. That is why sight is the most important to me. Summary: Today in class, we worked on a Commonlit assignment about the different types of friendship.  Reflection:  I enjoyed the lesson today because I was able to work independently and quickly.

Which time do you perfer the most and why, Daylight Savings Time or Standard Time?

  Prompt Response:  I prefer Daylight Savings Time. This is because it symbolizes that summer is getting closer, which is exciting. I also enjoy having a change in my routine that makes life a little more interesting for a little bit. I also enjoy having more daylight that lasts for longer. That is why I prefer Daylight Savings Time over Standard Time.  Summary: Today was a virtual day, so I worked on the NEWSELA assignment on Daylight Savings Time.  Reflection:  I enjoyed reading the article and learning about the reason and history behind Daylight Savings Time. I also thought that the questions weren't that difficult, but they still offered a challenge.

Prompt Response:  If my Nintendo Switch could tell a story about me, it would probably talk about all the time I spent playing video games and bonding with family and friends:  "Jonah would spend hours on weekends playing Fortnite, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart with my family and friends. He loved the time he spent together making memories and growing friendships."  Summary: Today in class, we read a poem called "So Much Depends On..." and began a project about how the little things in our lives play big roles.  Reflection:  I thought the lesson today helped me recognize and feel more grateful for the objects I might take for granted.
