 Absent 

 Today Mr. Rease was absent and we had a substitute teacher. We worked on an assignment in Newsela that talked about the dangers of self-diagnosis through the internet. I enjoyed reading the article and found the questions to be pretty easy. My day has been good so far, I have a baseball game later today. I am also very tired and have a lot of homework to do. 

 Today Mr. Rease was absent so we worked on finishing our papers. My paper is about the effects of technology on different aspects of our lives. I've learned about how to structure an essay better and have learned how to do it easier as well. I have enjoyed this assignment so far because it allows us to work mostly independently. My day was good today, nothing special happened. I just went to school then got home and did homework. 

 Today we learned more about creating and formatting essays. We created our own cluster graph based on the prompts given to us. I chose the prompt about how technology influences different aspects of our lives. After we did the cluster graph we constructed two body paragraphs. I wrote about how technology affects sports and school. I learned that creating a cluster graph can increase the efficiency of our writing. I somewhat enjoyed this assignment. I liked coming up with the different topic sentences but I don't like writing that much. My day has been going well so far, it has been a pretty basic school day overall. I have baseball practice tonight as well as lots of homework to do. 

 Today we learned about the 5 steps of the writing process. They are pretty simple:  1) Prewriting: Getting your thoughts down onto paper. 2) Drafting: Putting your ideas and thoughts together. 3) Revising: Rewriting or rearranging sentences to make sense.  4) Editing: Correcting grammar and punctuation. 5) Presenting: Sharing your work.  Those are the five steps of the writing process. I found them very easy to understand and felt like I already understood the steps before the lesson. One new thing that I learned was how to create a cluster graph to format and structure your writing and body paragraphs. I thought this was very helpful and will help me a lot in the future. My day today was good, school was the usual and I had a baseball game after school that we won. I do have a lot of homework and I am writing this at 11:46 at night. 

 Today we finished analyzing the 20 Emily Dickinson quotes. I learned how to analyze poetry better as well as understand the deeper meaning of it. I somewhat enjoyed this except for the fact that it was very tedious. My day has been good so far, I’m excited for the weekend. 

 Today we took a vocabulary quiz and learned more about Emily Dickinson. I think that I did very good on the test. I knew all the material for the vocabulary quiz. The poem we read by Emily Dickinson was about success. I thought it was very interesting and enjoyed going into depth about it meaning. My day has been pretty good today. I had a fun Labor Day and went golfing with some friends yesterday. I’m also happy that it is a short week this week.
